THAXTED
Thaxted is one of the most beautiful small towns in East Anglia, dominated, as it has been for some 600 years, by the exceptionally fine Church and Guildhall.
Almost all of the buildings in the town centre are of architectural and historic interest, many dating from the time when the town enjoyed the prosperity of the medieval cutlery trade.
Opposite the Church is Clarance House, a perfect example of the Queen Anne style.
The chantry and almshouses form a picturesque and colourful group between the Church and the now restored Windmill.
The Church, with its fine acoustic and light and spacious interior, provides a wonderful setting for the Festival.
