Our 2018 Festival got off to a flying start last weekend. On Friday, Thaxted Church was filled with choirs led by Armonico for the first performance of a rich programme of polyphony.
The Endellion Quartet brought their superb playing to Haydn, Beethoven and Dvorak. On Sunday, Brandenburg Sinfonia not only played a wide-ranging set of major pieces, but their players also 'popped up' in many venues around Thaxted to entertain us before their concert. All this in and around our beautiful Church in perfect summer weather!
Coming up this weekend we have star pianist Freddy Kempf on Friday, our Family Concert with the exciting Carnival Band on Saturday at 11.00am, a beautiful programme of choral works from Rodolfus Choir on Saturday evening, and our first Jazz at Thaxted event of the year with the Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra featuring vocalist Ian Mackenzie on Sunday evening. For details and bookings for this weekend, please click here. (We have managed to squeeze a few more seats in at the rear nave for Ronnie Scott's Orchestra, but they will go fast!).
Looking ahead, there is still availability for other concerts in our third and fourth weekends, but Sheku Kanneh-Mason on Sunday 8 July is completely sold out, and the waiting list for tickets is closed.
Ronnie Scott's return with their Quintet on Saturday 14 July if you can't manage to hear their Orchestra this weekend. And don't miss our Last Night on Sunday 15 July at 7.30 for relaxation (and celebration?) from all the other events in progress this summer. Come to this concert with Brandenburg Salon Orchestra and Natasha Day, and you will also have the chance to hum along in a performance of Puccini's Humming Chorus! Conductor Bob Porter will send you the music in advance if you send him a short email on: email@example.com. For tickets, click here.
You can see details of all the upcoming events and buy tickets online on this website, and our office is open for booking on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30 to 12.30 for bookings in person and by phone. (Answerphone outside these hours.) For those last-minute bookings, tickets can be printed at home or collected on the door.
Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for latest news and availability updates.
We look forward to seeing you and enjoying these concerts (and the summer evenings) together.
